Just wanted to be clear about how the studio actually usually looks! And this is after a general "tidying" up. Another productive day in the studio. Dragonfly came out to play today!

The studio space is blooming with flowers and ideas. I love having whole days to spend there. This week I was working on some beach themed pieces...and I even grabbed a photo of a cleaned up studio space! Doesn't look that way too often! Photos of finished pieces tomorrow after I unload the kiln!
I have been busy this week - creating all kinds of fun summer art and tableware for a STUDIO SALE on Friday, July 12th. Stop by between 11am and 3pm. Here are some photos of a few of the finished houses and birds. I'm making more, and so are my students and some of my teacher friends at school in the after school clay experience. We are inviting spring to join us... I think it's going to work this week - the weather report is showing sunshine on the way!! Upcoming Sale - more birds....and Bird Spas for real birds!!What a fun weekend in the studio - now to get ready to teach this week. These little birds and spas will be ready to go home with someone Mother's Day weekend....I'm going to have a sale from the studio on Saturday before Mother's Day (May 11th). Mark your calendars! Raku ExcitementThis month I did more RAKU firing at Seattle Pottery. So exciting. When you unload your pieces from the buckets after they have cooled down, it is just like opening up a present! So fun and what wonderful surprises the process brings. Relief! The sweet potato birds now have wings. I think I am going to make a new group with a slightly different shape, but I am pretty happy with the way they are chirping. I plan to do some RAKU firing at Seattle Pottery this weekend. Finished some pods for it last night...now impatiently drying them to bisque fire tomorrow in time to do the firing on Saturday. This morning I was a little giddy about how great it was to be glazing in my pj's - before my morning coffee! It's pretty amazing how this glopped on combination of chemicals turns into such beauty. Can't wait to share the finished photos! Just glazed....and last but not least...what I tell my students NOT to do...leave all of their brushes soaking in the water. My teacher voice made me turn around and wash them before I turned off the studio light. Okay - back in the studio, and so far, so good. The last couple of weeks I have been playing with weaving clay using an extruder. Really liking it, but it is time consuming, and a little...welll....perfectionist type work. Making me a little crazy! Finished basket! Just in time for my good friend's birthday! Off to the studio. Birdhouses are calling!!
I went to East West Massage http://eastwestmassagewa.com in Chinatown yesterday to get an herbal foot soak and massage - a belated birthday trip I was taking my good friend, Shareen to. What a great day. It was beyond relaxing. In a sort of painful way...Looking at the reflexology chart seems to explain why my hands are always numb lately....when they pressed on the outside of my right foot where the "arm" reflexology point is, I almost jumped out of the chair. Maybe the nerves in my arms are really messed up! I think it's time to set up an acupuncture appointment so that I can feel things with my fingertips! Looks like I forgot to actually publish this live....This is why my work came to a screeching halt. I think I wrote this in January.... I have a holiday, so I decided to create a website. And start blogging. I love to read blogs, but have always wondered if I wanted to say anything to the blogosphere. So far, not too exciting, but maybe I'll warm up. Off to a fun belated birthday celebration with a friend. Studio time this afternoon!
